visit from nana and grandpa

about 2 weeks ago my mom and dad drove in to visit while on their way to a dental conference. they stayed with us for almost 5 days. it was such a gift since i had a major midterm and eric had a major paper due for grad school. mom and dad did a ton of work around the house - hanging curtains, "baby-proofing" with some latches, cleaning some old antique chairs - and sanding and waxing ezra's new baby furniture. yes! that's right; i just said new baby furniture. my sweet roomie from college jenny's dad HANDMADE an AMAZING crib and dresser for ezra; it is all made of gorgeous oak. the crib even converts into a toddler bed. dr. w's work is beautiful, and we are just so grateful for this meaningful gift. we are also super grateful that my parents could drive the new baby furntiure down!

on wednesday, mom and dad's lifelong best friends ms. becky & mr. charlie drove in to pick mom and dad up to "carpool" the rest of the way to the dental conference. it was so special to see them, even though it was brief! ezra went on a date with the four adults to olive garden while mommy and daddy studied. he was as a good as gold the whole time!

mr. charlie & ms. becky have known me since i was five years old!

this was mr. charlie's first time to meet ezra!

one sick puppy: the week my folks were here ezra also was sick for the first time; as it turns out, he had double ear infections. poor little man just cried and cried and only wanted to be held. it was such a blessing to have nana and grandpa here to love and hold him since mommy and daddy were so busy with school (unfortunately). something else that was really neat was the day ezra starting crawling "for real" as i like to call it - up on all fours, was the day my mom and dad got here! ezra had been rolling and army crawling around the house for a while and would even get up on all fours and kind of rock back and forth before then, but he didn't really start "for real" crawling til the day they got here. it was so awesome that they could share that major milestone with us!

shopping with grandpa

daddy hung a new swing for ezra in the back yard while nana & grandpa were here! sorry the picture is so blurry; i just think it is so sweet of both of their faces! clearly, ezra is a huge fun - of both the swing & daddy. <3

mom & dad left with ms. becky and mr. charlie for the conference on wednesday, but they drove back through on their way home the following sunday. this is the "scene" they discovered when they pulled up. i had to put ezra in the excersaucer for fear that he would crawl out in the parking lot while i was cutting daddy's hair! it was supposed to be ezra's turn next, but i decided to wait to cut his hair so we could just play with nana & grandpa for a few hours before they had to take off again!

you are too funny, granpda!

we wish you lived closer nana & granpda! (and all of our family!!!)
