a choo, choo good time

this video is from february 6, 2010, when my mom was here for ezra's hospitalization due to his seizures. this is a sweet, regular occurrence in the gilchrest household - as in ezra spends anywhere from 2-6 hours a day playing on his choo choo tracks; this is the first thing he does when he wakes up for the day, from his nap, and before he goes to bed! as a matter of fact, his thomas and (fill in the blank with one more thomas toy- rotating from toby, to "pok car" - box car, to percy, to "musik ah caboose" - musical caboose) are nothing less than ezra's two security blankets. they.go.everywhere.we.go - to school, church, dinner, the store, and before i broke down and bought a "bubble bath thomas, percy, & salty" - ezra was doing everything in his power (read: tantrums) to convince eric and me that his wooden choo choos just HAD to go in the bath with him each night. thank heavens for plastic squirting choo choos; otherwise, i'm not sure what we would have done!

also, some of ezra's earliest sentences were about life at sodor ... i recall one of his earliest that was before christmas that i meant to blog about going something like:

toby: "hi thomas!"
thomas: "hi toby!"
toby: "how are you?"
thomas: "i like it at sodor!"

of course, ezra does all the narrating.

also, ezra some time ago started narrating when we are driving anywhere, almost like he is doing in the video, in choo choo lingo. ezra:

"rounda da bend!" (as our car hits a curve)
"up a hill!"
"down a hill!"
"froo a tunnel!" (which usually means we are going under an overpass)
"unda da bridge!"
"ova da bridge!"

now in case you're wondering about ezra's passion/obsession, let's just say it is shared across the miles by his first best friend, brooks. these boys were born just weeks apart, and even though they no longer live in the same state, read christy's blog to see how they catch up on regular play dates with each other. :) this is just one of ezra's favorite videos of brooksie playing choo choos himself!
