well, on the very last day of january, our sweet little man turned 4. it is hard for me to believe - truly. he is growing so quickly and so fast. as eric has noted, he's definitely becoming a BOY - not like a wood to real boy in pinnochio, but a BIG boy as in from toddlerhood to little person who holds real conversations and understands spiritual things.
with this birthday more than any other, i realized that i have successfully instilled one important value i wanted to pass on to my children = birthdays are special and a big deal because well, you are special and a big deal and someone worth celebrating!!! why this birthday more than any other? well, early on, ezra let me know exactly how he wanted his birthday to go down. and, very much like his mother, as far as he was concerned, it's not just a birthDAY; it's more like a birthMONTH! :) so, for starters, he wanted a party with his "tall friends" - our CLs, his "little friends" - playmates from church and such, and his "school friends" - at his celebration of life @ montessori. of course, we also did our own little family celebration which included opening family gifts @ home with nana and a yummy dinner.
so his birthday festivities lasted a week ... or maybe a little longer. :) so, let the bday pictorial chronicle begin:
on his REAL birthday -
first things first as a brand new four-year-old ... you take TWO "bitamoes" instead of one! :)
although he had school on his birthday, we made a special morning by first daddy offering to make him WHATEVER he wanted for his birthday breakfast. ezra opted for pancakes, and he definitely wanted to help cook them, too!after a slow morning and a late start to school, ezra had a delightful day. daddio picked him up early from school while mommio was teaching and took him to the grocery to pick out a treat - gummies which ez planned on giving out as prizes to his "tall friends" at chuck e cheese's. i left my leadership class early so the fam and i could go with our CL staff to chuck e cheese for dinner. i honestly don't know who had more fun ... ezra or my CLs. :) from the pics, you decide. :)
ezra and our "tall friend" CLs (and GAs too :)- part of our Arbors family and like aunties and uncles to our kiddos. we certainly couldn't do life without them! we.love.these.people!!!

auntie kelcy and lil lizzie
analynn and the chipmunk show-down
shelby OWNED this race track!

nolan & eric had an intense game or twenty of one-on-one-ish basketball. it was a big deal. chipotle was on the line!
thrilled with all the tickets his tall friends won for him! ezra got a match box car and a purple lizard, and analynn got some sweet tarts. :)
here is ezra with his sweet "bubu" bear. the bear's name is really bubba. the lady @ the store didn't know how to spell bubba right. if you want to hear the story, just ask my mom. :) ezra loves, loves, loves this little bear. bubba wears lightening pajamas and shoes. ezra takes him everywhere and sleeps with him every night!ok, more bday celebration posting to come!

It was a REAL treat to get to be there for Ezra's 4th b-day. I loved the Build-a-Bear day, making cookies, watching him scooter around campus, reading the Nystrom books with the little boy and his bear with Ezra and his little bear, and our great one on one day at the zoo.
Most of all, I enjoyed talking with Ezra. He is so expressive and such a BOY with his cars and trains. "Railroad tracks!" resounds in the car whenver he crosses any. He is too cute pushing his Ligthening McQueen cars all around the house and building his complex train tracks. (Dad, you have been a great coach in track design!)
Making "good choices" is important to 4 year old Ezra, and the love in his heart for Little Lizzie overflows in his interactions with his little sis. He is just one precious little boy package! I am so glad and thankful God dreamed him up, and that I have the great joy of being his Nana and getting to see his little life unfold.
K and E, you guys are such wonderufl parents and it shows in your children's lives. Yes, the lego birthday banner and stomp rocket, Dad, and Mommy's gorgeous homemade cake and Lightning McQueen cupcakes had you both putting in OT for a special b-day for a special little boy. Great memories of a very sweet family! Hope you post pictures of that cake? Love you all, Nana
