Christmas Eve Service

This Christmas Eve, we went to a beautiful service at Kendel's parents' church in Lexington.  As you might expect, Kendel had dressed Ezra and Lizzie to the nines.  Ezra's outfit included a dapper hat.  As we were walking into the sanctuary, the following conversation took place between grandpa and Ezra.

grandpa: Ezra, you need to take your hat off while we're in church.
Ezra: Why?
grandpa: Because we're in God's house.
Ezra: [clearly excited] God lives here!!  Where is he!
grandpa: Well, no, God lives in heaven.
Ezra: Oh.  So this used to be God's house, but he moved out?
grandpa:  No.  God is still here, but he lives inside of all of us.
Ezra:  God lives inside everyone?
grandpa:  Well, maybe not everyone.

I considered inserting myself into the conversation and helping grandpa out, but I decided to let him squirm a bit.  It's not easy answering theological questions from a 4-year-old!!

That's awesome! I totally pictured Will Ferrel yelling Santa! in Elf as I visualized Ezra shouting God lives here!? =)
