today, it has both literally and figuratively rained cats and dogs in my family's lives.
well, friends, on wednesday morning ezra had some type of fainting episode. he was sitting watching thomas the train, and eric was in the kitchen working on his laptop. next thing eric knew, he heard a loud thud; ezra had collapsed/fallen over and had hit his head. he was incosolabe. i was in class, so i missed the big event.
this is the second time this has occurred in his childhood. he also has been running a high fever on and off (about 102), and in a 24-hour period yesterday, he slept 20 hours which involved a lot of rocking and holding. to be exact, he slept from noon - 3pm. at 3, i had to go the store, and ezra slept the whole way there, while we there, and pretty much the whole way home. as soon as we got home from, he fell back asleep in my arms after less than 5 mins of rocking, falling asleep at 6:30pm and did not wake til 6:30am the next day.
he was still quite ill today, and i spent the afternoon with him at the doctor’s. he has continued to sleep non stop (which is very typical after a seizure). after sleeping pretty much from noon wed til 6:30am thursday, he went back to bed from 10am-1:30pm today. then we went to the doctor, and after we returned home, he asked to go to bed at 5:30pm! and he has been down for the night! (yes, this means he has skipped dinner 2 nights in a row.)
at his appointment, the doctor identified that ezra has a heart murmur (yippee), and she was very concerned about ezra’s second episode because of my husband’s and his family’s history of seizure disorders. because of this, ezra is supposed to undergo a sleep-deprived eeg next week (yes, how exciting - we get to keep ezra up ALL night and take him to the hospital at 8am the next day). they can obtain an EEG of his brain activity and an EKG of his heart. we are waiting to do it next week because eric is currently out of town on a church staff retreat (splendid timing, right? :).
he also has a terrible yeast infection "down there." who knew little boys could get yeast infections "down there"!?!?! i thought those were just for little girls (and no, he has not been on any antibiotics recently.) and his pediatrician called at 9:45pm this evening to inform me that his white blood count is really low. normal is 6,000-17,000. ezra's is currently 2,800. so first thing in the am we get to take a second trip to the doctor for more blood work to make sure it isn't getting any lower.
february is my "hell month" for grad school, so i already was dreading the month. this just takes the cake. along with the fact that i found out this evening that the travel company that scammed eric and me for a bunch of money and then gave us our money back??? (we only told a select few of you about this little scandal because we were so ashamed.) ... yah. they are LIARS! they charged us AGAIN!!! and the charge is back on our credit card statement!!! upbeknownst to me, my sweet husband has been dealing with this all week and has not had the heart to tell me because he already thought i was at a breaking point (yup, this was BEFORE ezra's illness!). he has called and emailed this AWFUL company no less than 20 times ... not to mention has been working with the fraud/dispute department of our credit card company. dear God, please help us!
or as ezra would say,
"wain, wain go 'way!
com gin .... day!"
(rain, rain, go away! come again another day!)

Dear Children.....I personally know of one who had a $6000.00 legitimate credit card balance. They quite paying....after some time a letter was received from the c/c co. We are writing it off as a loss. Your credit will be effected for 7 years...but no more statements or collection action will come.
......what a way to make 6 grand????
Today the c/c people are having to eat their terrible treatment to people.
