the evolution of the affirmative

so, the way ezra has said yes has evolved over recent months.

early on, it was "yesh."

then sometime in february right before my mom came to visit, he started saying "yeah" - and TOTALLY sounded like a teenager saying it! let's just say mommio and daddio were less than impressed with our two-year-old's lack of manners. EVERY.SINGLE.TIME i would remind him, "ezra, say 'yes, ma'am' or 'yes, sir.'"

then one shining morning, the birds starting singing again, and ezra decided to simply say "yes." PERFECTLY. with the complete "s" and everything - which, considering his mom's history of a speech impediment, i was quite impressed.

so, what's the latest? this weekend he has started saying "sure!" for everything! it is HILARIOUS!

daddy: "ezra, you want some milk?"
e: "sure!"
daddy: "ezra, you want to take your bubble bath?"
e: "SURE!"
daddy: "ezra, you ready to get out?"
e: "SURE!"
(you get the picture.)

where does he get this stuff!?! CRACKS US UP! such a little man ... :)

Too funny...we have a friend here whose son does the "sure" thing as well. He's Noah's age, and we were over at their house last week when he copped an attitude with his mom:

"Mom, can we go swimming @ Mrs. Kristie's house?"

"No, Robert, not today."

"But I wanna go, please, mommy."

"Robert--NO!"

"Mommy--SURE!"

"Robert--NO!"

"Sure, Mommy, SURE!"

...his mom was very annoyed and frustrated at his arguing, and she had to take him to his room for some correction--but I was trying not to laugh my head off because he kept shouting, "SURE!" back at her.

So cute that Ezra's picked that up, too...but I'm sure he'll NEVER argue with you. :)
