ezra has started the "i can do it myself stage." not TOTALLY sure how i feel about this one = excited that he is growing and beginning to exert his independence BUT at the same time, the whole thing can be, well, frankly annoying because whatever that "it" that he is doing on his own takes LONGER! yes, kendel, remember that patience is a virtue! i diverge ...
so, ezra is into bathing himself these days. just last night eric suds upped his little loofa; ezra started scrubbing himself down and then proceeded to stand up and say, "i stand up, daddy. you wash my BOOTIE!!!" his BOOTIE?!?!?! where in the world did he get that word?!!?! eric said he also called it his bottom. (YES! evidence indeed exists that our child is receiving SOME home trainin'!) this evening, ezra told me the same thing, only he said bootie a few times and exchanged the "t" for a "b" and added an "s"... you know where this is going. i just died laughing. i had to inform ezra he didn't have any of those. :)

our glider from nannie broke a couple of weeks ago. basically, the bottom fell out. so we have not been able to rock at all. whenever bed time rolls around, after books, ezra says, "no rock; it's bwoken." the other day, eric and ezra went to lowe's together to see if they could get new parts to fix it. that night, ezra asked if we could rock, and i said, "ezra, remember, the chair is still broken. but daddy has the parts now so he can fix it tomorrow." ezra responded: "daddy SURE did." "sure" is one of his latest words he likes using, and he's been getting his tenses flipped about lately. makes us crack up!

and finally, in case you all are wondering, gipper & gold are doing just great. :)

I saw this tense thing while there for your graduation. Ezra saw some flowers in front of your church and said, "Pretty flowers!" We went inside and when we came back out I said, "Those flowers are pretty." Ezra replied, "They sure did!" What a cutie!
